The theory involves two members of one of the biggest boybands in the past 20 years. One Direction consists of five members- Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik.
The five boys originally auditioned as solo artists but were put together in a band on X-Factor (UK) in 2010.
WHAT IS ‘LARRY STYLINSON’?
To understand what Larry is, one first has to understand what “shipping” is.
Shipping, initially derived from the word relationship is the desire by fans for two or more people, either real-life people or fictional characters (in film, literature, television, etc.) to be in a romantic relationship. It is considered a general term for fans’ emotional involvement with the ongoing development of a relationship in a work of fiction.
Larry comes from merging Harry and Louis together while Stylinson is formed by mashing their surnames- Styles, and Tomlinson together.
This ship has to be one of the biggest ones that the internet has seen. There is a plethora of “Larries” who have provided proof upon proof about the existence of this couple.
“PROOFS”
“Larry” has existed for almost as long as the band itself. The ship has been rumored to start in 2010 itself when the X-FACTOR Video Diaries came out. It was seen that Louis and Harry were often seen “fonding” over each other. It was quite clear that Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson had a special friendship from the get-go as it was confirmed that they were the only two bandmates who decided to live together.
“ALWAYS IN MY HEART”
On October 2nd,2011 Louis Tomlinson broke the Internet by tweeting THIS-
This tweet is the second most retweeted one EVER. Larry shippers believed and still believe to this day that this was the confirmation that was needed to confirm this beautiful ship between the boys.
“BULLSHIT”
So, after all these proofs and theories, “Larry” seemed to be real or probably real. Until Louis Tomlinson tweeted this-On September 16, 2012, Louis tweeted- “Hows this, Larry is the biggest load of bullshit I’ve ever heard. I’m happy why can’t you accept that.”This tweet left the fandom in a huge uproar. Many shippers were heartbroken but many believed that this was a “forced” tweet.
“BABY GATE”
On 31 January 2016, Louis Tomlinson’s son- Freddie Tomlinson was born and with him obviously came one of the biggest debunks of the “Larry” theory. However, fans were able to come up with yet another theory about how his son…might not be his son at all and thus was born the “Baby gate” theory.
On May 12th, 2015 @Brianfacts- a fan account for Briana Jungwirth, Tomlinson’s baby mama was created. Why is this strange? Because Briana had not yet been introduced to the public and before being tied to Louis Tomlinson, she was a stylist in LA. So the question here is- why did she have a fan account when she was just a normal individual?
Just a mere two days after the birth of this fan account, Tomlinson and Jungwirth
However, the biggest theory about “baby gate” arose when Briana’s friend posted this on her Instagram-
A fan searched through Instagram and saw a similar picture posted by a model- the same picture that was supposedly “sent” to Briana’s friend by her. Another “proof” of this theory came when pictures of Jungwirth exiting the hospital RIGHT after giving birth. Notice anything strange?
Yeah! Not only is she back at her “pre-baby” body but she is also holding the car seat with the baby in it. Here are some pictures of women right after giving birth to give you some context. However, when you see little Freddie and Louis together, you can definitely see the similarities-

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, it really is hard to differentiate what reality is from fantasy. On the one hand, Hollywood has a history of closeting celebrities in order to “increase” sales. One of the most recent cases of Matt Dallas who was “advised” by his executive to not come out. So is it really that big of a reach that these two were also forced to be apart?
However, both parties have denied the existence of this relationship multiple times. Louis and Harry have also considerably drifted apart (at least on camera) than what they were during the early years of the band.
A few “Larry shippers” have also taken upon themselves to send virtual hate on Eleanor Calder’s (Louis Tomlinson’s long-time girlfriend). This has resulted in her turning off her comments.
